Pauline's Swamp
The Parish has been given a pocket of land off the Reach Road. This is to be known as Pauline’s Swamp in memory of the benefactor’s late wife.
It is intended that the area should be developed as a wildlife area for the village.
The Swamp will be administered as a charitable trust made up initially of Parish Councillors.
The new fencing has been erected and the Swamp is now being grazed by sheep. The installation of the dipping platform around the main pond area is now complete and the installation of a board walk to the rear of the Swamp is almost complete.
Thanks to the Bio Diversity Partnership a grant of £2300 will enable the purchase of interpretation boards to be made. Following the generosity of a private benefactor some new trees have been purchased and used to fill the gaps around the perimeter of the Swamp.
More news will be added to this page as the site becomes ready for public use.
