Junior Allotments

Do you have a young person in your family that would like to learn more about growing their own produce and caring for a shared allotment? If so, this could be just the thing to encourage that.

I am Josh, I’ve lived in Burwell all my life and am a qualified horticulturalist. I am a keen allotment owner and BAGS committee member and would love to pass on my enthusiasm and knowledge to young people who may be similarly interested.

I joined Burwell Allotment and Gardening Society (BAGS) 2 years ago and last year I decided to start this club with the help of our junior assistant leader Noah

On the 2nd of March from 10am to 1 pm there will be a taster day where children can come along to an allotment to get an idea of what it would be like to work their very own allotment. After a small introduction, they will be given the opportunity to sow a range of seeds and take some home.

If your child would be interested in learning:

· How to create and manage a space of their own

· Learn plant identification

· Grow their own produce – fruit, veg, flowers.

· Learn about wildlife (and any small creatures that live on the allotment) Polinators etc

· Take part in small local competitions

· And much more…!

then this could be just for them.

In the first instance, please call or text me on 07471890280 or private message me on Facebook.

Please note, that children under 11 should be accompanied by an adult and sensible outdoor clothing will be required.

Thank you for your interest ??
