Working Groups

Whilst some matters can only be dealt with by the Full Council such as setting the precept, other matters will be considered in more detail by one of the Working Groups. The Group will then make a recommendation for a final decision to be made by Full Council. Each Working Group agreed their own Terms of Reference/Objectives. These Terms of Reference/Objectives were approved by Full Council. Working Groups meet bi-monthly. The following Four Working Groups have been established:

Finance and General Purposes

Chair: Paul Webb
Vice Chair: Linda Kitching

This working group is responsible for the monitoring and control of the council's budget, recommending a precept that balances the needs of the community against the community's ability to pay, all staffing matters, training, and the monitoring and reviewing of Council Policies.

Land, Buildings and Facilities

Chair: Lea Dodds
Vice Chair: Richard Jenkins

This working group is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Council owned properties. This includes the Gardiner Memorial Hall, Mandeville Hall, Cemetery, all Open Spaces such as the Recreation Ground and Spring Close, and play Areas, street furniture such as bus shelters and benches and grass and hedge cutting contracts.

Community Safety, Health and Sport

Chair: Ian Woodroofe
Vice Chair: Geraldine Tate

This working group works with other community and sporting groups, advises full council on donation requests and identifies, promotes or recommends community safety and health initiatives. The group works closely with the Pauline's Swamp Trustees and the Spring Close Management Group.

Climate Change, Biodiversity and Pollution Forum

Chair: TBC
Vice Chair: Geraldine Tate

This working group is responsible for helping the Council to deliver on the Climate Change, Biodiversity and Pollution Action Plans and to facilitate networking between relevant groups and stakeholders around the village to achieve this. This working group consists of councillors and non-councillors.
